What is Baulogic?

Baulogic is a hardwired home automation system designed in the UK for self-builders.

One integrated system controls lighting, climate, shading, security and energy. Every system is pre-configured off-site, installed by your own electrician during first fix, and runs offline without depending on Wi-Fi, a cloud service, or a third-party app to work. Built on KNX, the international standard for building automation, and supported by our UK technical team for the life of your home.

Timing

When in your self-build should you plan for home automation?

Plan it during the architectural design stage, well before first fix.

Stage 01

Discovery

Tell us about the home you are building and how you want to live in it. We come back with an indicative figure and the scope of what Baulogic will do across the home.

Stage 02

Design

We design the full system off-site: switch positions, cable schedules, scene logic, and pre-configuration, all alongside your architect's M&E layout.

Stage 03

First fix

Your electrician pulls the cabling and fits the back boxes from our drawings. The structural groundwork for Baulogic goes in alongside the rest of the electrics, before plasterboard.

Stage 04

Second fix

Switches, sensors, touch screens, and the main controller arrive on site. Your electrician brings the system online, supported remotely by our UK team.

Daily life

What is it like to live in a Baulogic home?

Day to day, the home works with you. Lighting, heating, cooling, blinds, and security respond to the time of day, the weather, and who is home, without you having to think about it. A few examples of how that plays out.

A family in a Baulogic home
Mornings

Wake to a house already in motion

Bedroom blinds open gradually with the sunrise. Underfloor heating in the bathroom is already up to temperature. Downstairs lighting comes on low when you walk into the kitchen.

Working from home

A workspace on its own schedule

Your office lighting and heating run separately from the rest of the house, so the family can move around without it costing you in energy. A single switch by the desk drops the room into a focus scene for a call.

Evenings & entertaining

One press sets the whole scene

A dinner scene takes the kitchen and living room together: under-cabinet lighting up, pendants down, blinds closed. A second press shifts everything into after-dinner mode without you leaving the sofa.

Bedtime

Goodnight, in a single touch

One bedside switch turns off every light in the house and drops the heating back. No walking the corridors to check.

When you are away

A home that never looks empty

Baulogic can run a presence simulation that mimics your usual lighting and blind patterns. You see the status of home from your phone, whether you're in the office or half way across the world.

Through the seasons

Comfort that tracks the weather

The system shifts heating and cooling profiles automatically as the weather changes. Blinds close on south-facing rooms during a heatwave to keep them cool without overworking the air conditioning.

The energy benefit sits underneath all of this. Lighting, heating, and cooling are optimised against occupancy and time of day, which helps keep running costs down across the home.

By room

What does Baulogic do in each room of the home?

Self-builders plan room by room. So does Baulogic. Here is how the system shows up in the spaces you use every day.

Kitchen and open-plan living
Kitchen & open-plan living

The hardest-working room

  • Cooking, dining, and after-dinner scenes on one keypad
  • Blinds respond to solar gain on south-facing afternoons
  • Under-cabinet lighting on a circadian schedule
Primary bedroom and en-suite
Primary bedroom & en-suite

From sunrise to last switch off

  • Blinds open gradually with the sunrise
  • A bedside switch turns the whole house off
  • A low-level night path lights bedroom to bathroom
Bathroom
Bathrooms

Ready before you walk in

  • Underfloor heating zoned and scheduled per bathroom
  • Extract fans run on humidity, not a wall switch
  • Towel rails and lighting on one schedule
Home office
Home office

A zone of its own

  • Lighting and heating run separately from the rest of the house
  • A focus scene drops the room into calm light for calls
  • Blinds adjust through the day to cut screen glare
Hallway and staircase
Hallways, stairs & landings

The quiet routes

  • Motion-triggered lighting at 20% overnight
  • Front door, intercom, lock and porch on one press
  • A leaving-home scene closes the house behind you
Exterior at dusk
Outside

Façade, garden, driveway

  • Façade lighting on an astronomical clock, year-round
  • Garden scenes for entertaining and overnight paths
  • Motion-triggered lighting to deter intruders and pests.
Plant room
The technical heart

The plant room

  • Every cable labelled, every device documented
  • Main controller, manifolds, and network in one place
  • 20 years of changes run through here
The process

How does the process work for you?

The process is built around your build programme. From first conversation to handover, here is what to expect.

01

Initial conversation

Tell us about the home you are building and send us your plans. We can help you determine what you want the system to do. We come back with an indicative figure and a proposed scope.

02

Detailed design, off-site

Once you commission us, our UK team designs the full system from your architectural drawings: cable schedules, switch positions, scene logic, room-by-room control. You see the design before anything is built.

03

Pre-configuration

We build and test your system in our UK facility before it leaves the building. Every switch, every scene, every automation. By the time the box arrives on site, it is already programmed.

04

First fix, with your electrician

Your electrician runs the cabling using our drawings. They have a free 90-minute training session with our team and a direct support line during install.

05

Second fix

Switches, sensors, touch screens, and the main controller go in. Your electrician brings the system online, supported by our UK team remotely.

06

Handover

Before you move in, we walk you through the system - scenes, schedules, smart events and the app.

07

For the life of the home

With the KNX infrastructure, the Baulogic system remaines futureproof. Any upgrades to the system can be carried out by our UK support team, including hardware and software updates. You call us, not your electrician.

Cost

How much does Baulogic cost in a UK self-build?

Starts from around
£5/sq ft

per square foot of the home you are building.

That figure covers

  • System design
  • Hardware
  • Off-site configuration
  • Software

Quoted separately

  • Installation by your electrician
  • End devices — light fittings, blinds, AV
  • Any decoration

The final figure depends on how much of the home you want the system to control and the depth of the experience you want. Costs move up with the number of controlled zones, the complexity of lighting scenes, motorised shading, security and access control, outdoor lighting, and AV integration. Will my own electrician install Baulogic?

Yes. Baulogic is installed by your own electrician after a free 90-minute training session with our UK team.

There is no specialist integrator to bring on site, no separate contractor for your project manager to coordinate, and no extra trade in your programme. Your electrician follows our drawings and has a direct line to our support team throughout the install.

More on how electricians work with Baulogic

Will it still feel modern in 20 years?

Yes. Baulogic is built on KNX, the international standard for building automation, in continuous development since 1990.

KNX is supported by more than 500 manufacturers and 8,000 certified products worldwide. Hardware installed in the 1990s still works on systems installed today, which is why it is specified on heritage refurbishments and twenty-year residential projects across Europe.

You ask, we answer

Is Baulogic suitable for self-build homes?

Absolutely. Baulogic is a perfect fit for self-build projects. Our system is preconfigured off-site to your design, making installation straightforward and avoiding costly delays or complex commissioning on-site.

Can my electrician install Baulogic?

Yes. Any qualified electrician can install Baulogic. We provide simple installation instructions and offer complimentary training that takes just 90 minutes, no specialist needed.

Will I need to programme or set anything up myself?

No. Everything is configured and tested before it arrives. Your system will be ready to use from day one. You’ll have full control through elegant wall switches and an intuitive app, with no technical setup required from you.

How does Baulogic compare to other smart home systems?

Unlike many systems that rely on piecing together multiple wireless devices, Baulogic is a complete, fully integrated system. It offers professional-grade control over lighting, heating, ventilation and more, without the complexity or unreliability of DIY smart tech.

Can I customise the system to my home and lifestyle?

Yes. Baulogic is designed around your specific layout, preferences, and future needs. From personalised lighting scenes to zoned heating and ventilation, your system is entirely tailored to how you live.
