Project Overview

A major property developer wanted to enhance the appeal of its ten penthouse apartments in a prestigious landmark multi-dwelling apartment building in Cambridge.

The specification was to provide a C-Bus intelligent lighting system to all ten penthouse apartments to showcase the possibilities of smart home living. The installation was to include the necessary cabling to enable the owners of the penthouses to upgrade their system, either during construction or after completion.

A bespoke lighting system was designed, unique to each of the ten penthouse apartments. Optional upgrades for multi-room audio, intruder alarms and media centre distribution were incorporated into the designs at first fix.

Customer Expectation

Due to the prestigious nature of the development and the minimalist design of the apartments, the client wanted attractive accessories that would blend into the decor. A further prerequisite was that the system needed to be extremely simple to use, since the properties were to be sold-on to end-users who would not be familiar with the system.

One of the developer's main stipulations was that support would be provided to the purchasers of the apartments once the properties had exchanged. It was also agreed that a detailed hand-over manual would be supplied to each apartment, including a copy of the control program on CD.

After Completion

One of Baulogic's experts spent as much time as required with each of the eventual owners of the penthouses to help them understand the capabilities of the systems.

Baulogic has provided technical support to the penthouse apartments, including additional site visits as and when necessary. We have discussed upgrade options with those residents who are interested in the further benefits that the system can offer.
