Energy Efficiency

Commercial energy efficiency from Baulogic

Environmental savings
In an era of climate change and global warming, we must preserve the earth's limited energy resources. An intelligent control system is a simple, cost-effective way of making commercial properties more energy efficient.

In many offices the lights are turned on in the morning and stay on until the cleaners have left late at night, regardless of the amount of sunlight available during the day, or whether the office is occupied. With lighting accounting for 50% of a typical building's energy consumption, this amounts to an enormous amount of wasted energy and excess carbon emissions.

Intelligent lighting
An intelligent lighting control system that switches the lights off when each office is unoccupied, and that dims the lights when sufficient daylight is available, can typically reduce electricity consumption for lighting by 30%.

At that rate, the additional costs of the installation are usually recouped within 2-3 years. After that you're saving money, but from day one you're saving the planet.

Reducing emissions
In a typical office, heating and cooling accounts for 30% of the annual energy cost. Here too, enormous savings can be made by controlling the systems intelligently. How often do you see air conditioning units and heating fighting against each other?  How many workers open windows in the winter - not because they want fresh air, but because the heating is too high and they can't control it? The installation of an intelligent HVAC system from Baulogic, with localised sensing and adjustment, can eliminate these wasteful practices and save you money.

Baulogic was initially approached to provide an intelligent lighting solution to key areas of a large country family home. The property was in the very early stages of full refurbishment throughout, an ideal time to introduce the additional cabling required for an intelligent solution.

As we worked with the client and architect to design the key areas, the benefits of an intelligent system became apparent to the client and the design was extended to cover the entire property, including its extensive grounds.

Baulogic was approached to design and install an intelligent lighting system to maximise the appeal of a spacious contemporary penthouse apartment. The design brief called for a modern system that would suit the building and complement the client's furnishings.

Following discussions with the client, it was established that Baulogic could offer additional home automation that would complement the client's busy lifestyle, and the designs were revised accordingly.
