Blinds, Shades & Shutters

Reduced carbon footprint
Most offices are fitted with internal venetian blinds, vertical blinds or shades to reduce glare during the summer. A secondary benefit is that reflecting the sunlight reduces solar gain and thus reduces cooling costs. Unfortunately, in a typical office, once the blinds have been lowered to reduce glare, they stay down. If the room gets too dark, someone turns the lights on. This is exceptionally wasteful.
This waste can be reduced by having Baulogic attach the blinds or shades to an intelligent control system programmed to automatically raise the blinds at the end of the day, or lower them when solar gain raises the room temperature too much. Localised control can be provided to allow the occupants to raise or lower the blinds and avoid glare.
Centralised intelligent control
Although not common in Britain, external louvered shutters can significantly improve energy efficiency by shading the building when the sun is strong and insulating the building at night. A centralised intelligent control system from Baulogic will ensure that the shutters are deployed effectively (and to ensure the aesthetics of the building are maintained).
